Shimono Farm   osakakomatuna (Japanese vegetable)

For the farming in the future, we felt that farming needs to be organized and attract young human resources from the outside and we have build all of our greenhouses as connected large steel framed houses. We are now taking measures to implement total rationalization by installing automatic opening skylights and automatic sprinklers both of which will be computer operated.

Work is performed by 4 male employees and part-time female employees that number 7 to 14 under a set of work rules and supported by welfare benefits. Work is done in a field which is approximately 160 ares in area (roughly 4800 tsubo) growing ‘osakakomatsuna’ a type of White rape that are grown year around and planted and harvested 7 times a year.

We are active in promotion of local production and local consumption and we ship our produce to schools for school meals, local supermarkets (Daiei, Ito Yokado, Life, SunPlaza, etc) and department stores (Hankyu and Takashimaya).

We are directing our efforts toward farming that involve industry, government and academia and we implement many consumer exchanges .
